It was Eric Vanderiviere’s third Tirecraft Sport Stock Feature win of the season. A battle between friends for twenty laps gave Brad Bloomfield #11B second place and Doris Lajeunesse #38 third place. Each of the top three feature winners received trophies from the Race sponsor; Tilbury Auto Recyclers.
It was Jim Jones #34 first Westside Performance UMP Late Model feature win of the season; Jones who has been racing for 40 years was met in Victory Lane by his excited family. After coming to a stop at the top of the track in turn two, Jones explains, “I figured I was done, I was mad I did that, I was driving a little more aggressively than normal.”
After the restart on the caution everything fell into place and he was able to claim his first victory of the season.
After starting 11th in the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modified Feature, Jim Dale Jr 00 was able to claim his third feature win of the season.
“You like the high side don’t you?” Jason Whittal, Track Announcer asked.
“You can get a lot of momentum here, from the flag man to that corner (turn one) as long as you’re going straight,” Dale said, also crediting momentum for his amazing three car pass.
Race fans will be eager to see if Dale can win two more Features in a row so they can watch a foot race between Dale Jr and track announcer Whittal.
It was an incredible lead since lap five during the Tirecraft Mini Mod feature for Tim McKenzie #81. This race had fans biting their nails with McKenzie in the lead going into turn three, wondering if opening night would repeat itself. However, luck was on his side as he made it out of turn three and past the checkered flag for the win.
