Maroons Lose Another Committed Player
The “elsewhere” is the Leamington Flyers.
The Flyers announced the signing of forward Broden Meloche Thursday, only a week after announcing the signing of defenseman Jaydon Fetter, who had also committed to the Chatham Maroons prior to their spring camp.
Meloche, a 1998 born forward had 67 points in 56 regular season and playoff games last year skating with the Junior C Amherstburg Admirals. He led his team in scoring, and was 5th in Great Lakes Junior C scoring in the regular season, and second in the playoffs.
Fetter, a product of the Windsor ‘AAA’ system, was a highly sought after prospect this offseason after putting up 38 points in 38 games for Windsor’s Major Midget ‘AAA’ team. The blueliner, a 1999 birth year was one of several Windsor products to commit to Leamington this offseason.
Both players committed to the Chatham Maroons while then head coach Colin Roeszler was at the helm.
Roeszler stepped down earlier this offseason, being replaced by newcomer Brian Verbeek. The team has not made any signing announcements since the coaching change occurred.
