Pool Sharks Medal At Regionals
The Chatham Pool Sharks churned up the waters at the Western Region Long Course Championships at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre this past weekend. The championship meet brings regional-level qualifiers from as far away as Niagara Falls to compete. Participants must have a regional-level time cut, earned throughout the season, to compete. The Sharks gave it all they had at the regional meet and also gained new Easterns, National, Age Group Provincials, and Provincial Festival time cuts while there.
The Sharks brought home 14 medals; top 8 place finishes included:
- Alex Thiel (9M):
- 8th– 50 back
- Quinn Matteis (11M):
- 1st – 100 free, 400 free, 50 fly,
- 2nd– 800 free
- 4th – 100 fly, 200 breast
- Connor McFadden (13M):
- 1st -1500 free
- 2nd– 50 free
- 3rd -400 IM
- 4th – 200 IM, 100 back
- 5th – 100 free, 50 fly
- Matthew Eddington (13M):
- 3rd – 50 back
- 7th -400 free
- Genevieve Sasseville (13F):
- 1st – 400 free, 200 IM, 50 back, 50 fly
- 2nd – 100 breast
- 3rd– 200 breast
Regional qualifiers also competing at the meet were: Matthew Dubeau, Gracie Reaume, Cameron Shinkelshoek, and Kaidance Matteis; a lot of personal best times were achieved.

The Chatham Pool Sharks is a Division 2 Club and currently has nationally ranked swimmers on the team, as well as many provincial and regional-level qualifiers.
