Port Lambton Pirates Sr Men’s Baseball Rolling
The Port Lambton Pirates Sr Men’s baseball team seized victory thanks to a late double, dropping Petrolia 10-7 on Sunday.
After four lead changes in Sunday’s game at Vandamme Park, the Port Lambton Pirates finally pulled out a 10-7 win over Petrolia.
Chris Cowden went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Port Lambton Pirates . He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.
Paul Bezaire recorded the win for the Port Lambton Pirates . He allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings. Bezaire struck out one, walked two and gave up five hits.
The Port Lambton Pirates jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Port Lambton Pirates ‘s threat began with a single by Rich Leach. A double by Cowden then moved Leach from first to third. More runs came home for the Port Lambton Pirates when Cowden scored when Adam Rose drew a bases loaded walk and Bezaire and Johnston scored on a two-run single by Matt Liberty.
Petrolia got three-run rallies in the second inning and the third.
The Port Lambton Pirates went up for good in the fifth, scoring five runs on a two-run double by Matt Liberty and three singles.
The Pirates are 13-3 in summer play.
