Back To School For University Athletes

While Chatham-Kent high school students still have a week to go before the bells begin ringing, almost all University athletics programs are already in full swing across North America.

Headlining the crop of University athletes from Chatham-Kent, Chatham’s Bridget Carleton returns for her second season of NCAA basketball with Iowa State. Carleton was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team, and received Honorable Mention for the All Big 12 team.

Chatham’s Sydnye Gagner also returns for her second season of NCAA soccer at Oakland University. Other returning NCAA’s include Mackenzie Butzer and Crawford McKinlay, among others.

First year NCAA commits such as Blayne Oliver, Brendan Seys, and Quinn Cannella are also headed to school.

On the Canadian side of the border, dozens of local athletes will return to competition this week at OUA, CIS, and OCAA schools.
