Chatham’s Chad Laprise Victorious At UFC On Fox 21
Chatham’s Chad Laprise returned to the octagon with a first-round TKO win over Thibault Gouti during UFC on Fox 21 on Saturday night.
Laprise, fighting on Canadian soil, landed a right hand for the win in the opening round, emanating from Vancouver, B.C.
The CKSS-grad improves to 4-2 in the UFC, after dropping his prior two fights.
Laprise took to social media shortly after the win, still buzzing from the experience, posting “Words can’t describe this feeling!!!!”
Chad missed weight going into the encounter with Gouti, and apologized to his opponent, the UFC and fans.
In a post-fight interview, Laprise said he’s always found cutting weight to be a struggle and is looking to move to the welterweight division.
Laprise also praised his Southwestern Ontario fans for their support. Chad spent a portion of his training camp near home in London, Ontario, as opposed to his regular training centre in Montreal, where he also resides.
“Going home and seeing my family brings that fire back in me” Laprise told reporters in his post-fight interview. Chad is trying to get on the UFC event in Toronto, scheduled for December 10th.
