Wallaceburg’s Zach Herreweyers didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called Monday in the National Lacrosse League Draft.

Herreweyers, a former Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse star was selected 9th overall in the first round of the NLL draft by the Colorado Mammoth.

“Zach might be the most talented player in this year’s draft,” said Dan Carey, Mammoth director of player personnel in a team news release. “He has the ability to change a game with his skill and athleticism.”

Herreweyers completed his senior year with the Loyola University Greyhounds this past season, scoring 37 goals last season.

The Mammoth have had a pair of Wallaceburg products on their roster in the past, with locals Sean Pollock and Tye Belanger both seeing time with Colorado in recent seasons.
