The Chatham Maroons had their 2016-2017 GOJHL home opener spoiled by the visiting Sarnia Legionnaires Sunday at Chatham’s Memorial Arena.

With 837 in attendance, Chatham rookie Bobby Harrison opened the scoring. Harrison was a 15th round pick of the OHL’s London Knights this year. Ryan Gruszka and Josh Barraclough assisted on the play.

Sarnia would answer on the powerplay in the first to knot the score at 1-1.

Chatham again took a lead in the second with Austin Thompson scoring a powerplay marker from Alec Mackenzie and Dakota Bohn.

Sarnia however would score twice unanswered and hold on to the 3-2 win.

Chatham is back in action Wednesday on the road against LaSalle, and will host Leamington next Sunday.
