There is no question that fourth-year veteran goalie Eric Stewardson and his Blenheim Blades teammates are on a roll.  bladesoct2

Sunday night before 343 fans at the Blenheim arena Stewardson picked up his third shutout in a row, and he and his teammates won for the sixth straight time blasting the Wallaceburg Lakers 10-0, and are now unbeaten in their last seven.

The win gives the Blades an 8-1-2 record good for 18 points and a five-point lead on the second-place Dresden Kings in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division.

Dresden also won Sunday beating the Amherstburg Admirals 5-4 in Amherstburg and will visit the Blenheim arena Sunday for a 7 p.m. game. Prior to that, the Blades will be in Petrolia Thursday night to play the Flyers at 7:30 and Saturday in Amherstburg for a 7:30 contest.

As for Sunday’s lopsided blow out It was Stewardson, who has now not been scored on in one hundred and ninety six minutes and 59 seconds, recording his seventh win of the year and lowering his goals against average to 1.96, second best in the league behind Matt Badour of Essex who is at 1.60.

“I have been around this league for a long time,” said Blades director of player personal Bill Saunders following the game, “but I have never seen anything like this. The Blades are in their 51st season and my guess is that it has never happened before.”

While Stewardson was the star of the show between the pipes stopping 16 shots sent his way by the winless Lakers (Wallaceburg is now 0-7-1 with their lone point coming when they tied the Blades Sept. 28 2-2 in Wallaceburg) his teammates fired 52 shots at a pair of shell shocked Laker goalies.

Besides scoring 10 times Blades players also put up 16 more points thanks to assists.

By the 10:48 mark of the first period the score was already 4-0, with two more goals coming before the period ended. Blenheim then scored twice more in each of the final two periods.

Nick Delyzer and his linemates Zach Horvath and Kier Cumming led the way with nine points, with Delyzer scoring twice and assisting on another, Horvath scoring once and adding two assists and Cumming getting three assists.

The goals for Delyzer were his eighth and ninth of the year, while Horvath netted his second.

Single tallies went to Brayden Seliga (2nd), George Wood (2nd), Drew Marlatt (4th), Braeden Allore (1st), Carter Wright (2nd), Brayden Hopkins (6th) and Dustin Maines (4th).

Owen Bateman and Matt Clark chipped in with a pair of assists, with Chris Hall, Allore, Wright, Hopkins, Bruce Broad and Wood adding one each.

The game was a tame affair with each team taking four minor penalties.
