EXTRA! EXTRA! LAKERS WIN!
The Wallaceburg Lakers have picked up their first win in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
After starting the season 0-8-1, the Lakers earned a hard fought 6-5 win over Petrolia on Sunday night.
Wallaceburg finished strong with a four-goal third period after going into the locker room down 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Brayden Kettlewell scored the eventual game winner, his second of the game (and period) with 4:43 remaining in regulation.
Lakers newcomer Matthew Brevetti had a memorable debut, setting up three goals en route to the Wallaceburg comeback.
Justin Lindsay had his biggest night of the year, with four points – one goal and three assists.
Nolan Farr and Trevor Waller each added a goal and a helper while Josh Oberg had 2 assists. Josh Farrugia had a late third period goal to tie the game.
Netminder Zach Lindley stopped 37 of 42 shots.
Curtis Helps had 2 goals for Petrolia. Other Flyers goals came from Trent Jardine, Zach VanEyk and Jack Hackett.
