Kings Drop Two Over Weekend

The offensive machine that is the 2016-17 Dresden Jr Kings hit a brief roadblock this weekend, dropping a pair of tightly played games this weekend to the top two ranked teams in the PJHL’s Stobbs Division.

Dresden was on the short end of a 3-2 overtime decision at home to Mooretown on Friday night. Brock Daugherty and the recent veteran addition of Austin Bentley had goals for Dresden.

The Kings offence was stymied Sunday night in Blenheim as the first place Blades quieted Dresden with a 3-1 win. Eric Carter, the Kings’ 16-year-old signing had the lone D-town goal.

Nick Delyzer scored his 11th of the season while Brayden Hopkings added his eighth and ninth. Hopkins’ second of the game was an empty-net-goal to secure the victory.

Dresden’s captain Dillon Liberty was held off the scoresheet for the first time this season. Liberty leads the Stobbs division in scoring with 26 points through 14 games.

Blenheim has an eight-point lead at the top of the Stobbs division with a 10-2-2 record. Dresden falls to 6-7-1 while losing three in a row. The Kings remain tied in third place in the division, tied with Essex, whom they recently defeated.
