Lakers Still Winless, Lose 5-2 To Petrolia

The Wallaceburg Lakers continue to search for their first win of the season, after a 5-2 loss to Petrolia on Wednesday night.

Max Lozon has been relied upon between the pipes recently, and stopped 31 of 36 shots for Wallaceburg.

Both Lakers goals came from Brett Farr in the first period. Trevor Waller, Wallaceburg’s leading scorer, had an assist on both goals.

Curtis Helps scored two for Petrolia, one of which was a powerplay goal. Kole Keating and Zach VanEyk also scored with the man advantage as the Flyers went 3 for 7 on the powerplay. Hunter Bryce also scored for Petrolia, improving their early record to 4-4, tied with Lakeshore for fourth place in the Stobbs division.

Wallaceburg continues to try to climb out of the basement, with a record of 0-6-1, thanks to a 2-2 tie with Blenheim in their second game of the season.

The Lakers last win came nearly a calendar year ago – a 7-2 victory over Alvinston (now Petrolia) on November 6, 2015.
