In his first week in the OHL after returning from a free agent tryout with the NHL’s New York Rangers, Chatham’s Joseph Raaymakers made his presence known, being named the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 2.

Raaymakers starred for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, backstopping his team to a 3-0-0-0 record. Through those games Raaymakers, a former Chatham-Kent Cyclones netminder, had a sparkling 1.94 GAA and .930 save percentage.

Raaymakers’ performance was even more impressive as all three wins were on the road, one needed a shootout against the London Knights (35 saves), and another coming in overtime against the Sarnia Sting (17 saves). He was also the games third star in his season debut, a 3-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires (35 saves).
