Bantam Wildcats Stay Perfect To Open Season

The Chatham-Kent Wildcats bantam girl’s team played their first games of the season recently, playing against the Tecumseh Saints and Sarnia Valhalla on November 19th and the Kingsville Class and St. Thomas Shock on November 26th.

In their first game of the season the Wildcat bantam girls beat the Tecumseh Saints by a score of 51-33. Claire Cox led the way with 17 points, including going 3 of 5 from the 3 pt. line. Elliot Cowan added 9 points, 17 rebounds, 11 steals and 3 assists. Rounding out the scoring were Jillian Vickery with 8 points and Sydney Sheppy with 6.

In their second game of the day the bantam girls came out flat but were able to eventually come away with a 53-45 win. Elliot Cowan led the team with 13 points, 11 boards, and 5 assists. Claire Cox added 12 points and Jillian Vickery 10. Rounding out the scoring were Solara Howe, Sydney Sheppy, and Bryah Baylis each with 5 points.

In the 3rd game of the season the bantam girls played the Kingsville Class bantam team and won by a score of 58- 12. Claire Cox led the way with 20 points, 8 steals and 4 assists. Elliot Cowan added 12 points and Melissa Pardy 10 points and 9 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring were Jillian Vickery and Sara Turner both with 6 points.

In the 4th game of the season against St. Thomas Shock, the bantam girls won by a score of 53-10. The team was once again led by Elliot Cowan with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists. Claire Cox added 11 points, Jillian Vickery 7 points and 8 steals, and Solara Howe and Sara Turner added 6 points each.

The Wildcat Bantam girls next play in the Windsor Valiants tournament, which takes place at the University of Windsor, on December 10, 2016.
