Fantuz A Finalist For CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian

The Canadian Football League recently announced their finalists for the Shaw CFL Awards, to be held on Thursday, November 24th in Toronto during Grey Cup weekend.

Chatham’s Andy Fantuz has been sidelined with a torn ACL, suffered late in the season, but that hasn’t stopped him from winning some awards, including the Ti-Cats Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian awards. Now, Fantuz is one of two finalists for some league-wide hardware.

Fantuz and Jerome Messam of Calgary have both been named finalists for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian Award. Andy enjoyed a renaissance year, one of the best of his career, breaking a franchise record with 101 receptions, 1,059 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He’s the first Canadian receiver with 100 catches since 2008.

The awards are voted on by the Football Reporters of Canada and CFL coaches.
