Chatham-Kent Wildcats Novice boys win gold – Contributed Photo

The Chatham-Kent Wildcats Novice Boys won gold this weekend – Contributed Photo[/caption]The Chatham-Kent Wildcats Novice Boys basketball team improved their season record to 10-1 this past weekend in London. The Wildcats took home the Gold medal in a hard fought win over the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday winning 44 to 29.  

The team was led by veteran Caleb Roberts on offence, and a full team effort on the defensive end of the floor in the Gold Medal game.  

The Wildcats began pool play with a win over the St. Thomas Shock 54-15. The Wildcats were led by Caleb Roberts with 16 points, and Gibson Dunlop and Cortez Rush netted 6 apiece.  

The Wildcats then edged the Guelph Gryphons 42-35. Roberts led the way with 23 points and Rush added 9.  

The Wildcats went on to defeat Sarnia Valhalla and The London Ramblers in pool play.  

Their balanced attack was led by Christian Suffi with 8 points, Nathan Valadares had 7, and C.J Roberts and Tez Hadden chipped in with 4 each. The team would like to send a big shout out to Ian Costello for making his first basket of the season and providing excellent defense.
