Year in Review: December 2016
While the month typically gets slow around the holiday, the Chatham Maroons made sure we had enough to talk about in December 2016. Here’s a look at our top stories.
Maroons Make Moves – In their annual attempt to load up prior to playoffs, the Chatham Maroons brought in a few familiar faces. The team brought back scoring veteran Teddy McGeen from the BCHL, and Ethan Sarfati, the leading scorer of the Lambton Shores Predators. Later in the month, the team brought in long time OHLer Noah Bushnell.
Maddy Lalonde Heads To Ryerson – After originally planning to go the college route, Madison Lalonde made a change of plans, committing to play OUA hockey for the Ryerson Rams, where she’ll join former teammates Lauren Nicholson and Sydney Authier next season.
Verbeek Gone – The Chatham Maroons continued their coaching carousel, firing Brian Verbeek. He was the Maroons 7th coach under the current ownership group. As the New Year rolled around, the implications of the move were still unseen.
