Bantam Wildcats Win Silver

In the first game of pool play the Wildcat Bantam girls defeated the Stoney Creek Bantam team by the score of 47-35. Marissa Beselaere led the way with 15 points and 11 steals. Elliot Cowan scored 13 points and had 15 rebounds and 5 steals. Clair Cox finished with 9 points and Sara Turner contributed with 6 steals and 3 assists. Rounding out the scoring were Jillian Vickery and Melissa Pardy with 4 points each.
In the second game of pool play the Wildcat Bantam girls defeated the Vaughan Panthers by the score of 42-33. Elliot Cowan had 15 points and 9 boards, Clair Cox had 12 points going 4-4 from the 3 point line, Marissa Beselaere added 8 points, 9 steals and 4 assists and Jillian Vickery rounded out the scoring with 5 points.
In the final game of pool play the Wildcats defeated the East York Eagles by the score of 42-29. Clair Cox led the team with 21 points, Marissa Beselaere added 6 points, Jillian Vickery 5 and Sara Turner 4 points. Elliot Cowan was big on the boards with 16 and steered the offense with 4 assists.
In the semi-finals, the Wildcat girls faced the Flamborough Fire from Waterdown and came away with a 54- 43 victory, which put the team into the Gold-Silver Medal game. Marissa Beselaere was top scorer with a strong 16 points and added 7 rebounds. Jillian Vickery added 12 points including 2 for 3 from the 3 point line. Clair Cox contributed 10 points, 7 boards 4 steals and 3 assists while Elliot Cowan scored 10 points, had 13 tough boards, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots. Sydney Sheppy was a defensive presence in this match with 6 steals.
In the Gold-Silver Medal final the team lost to the Orillia Lakers by the score of 47- 32. The Wildcat girls battled through 3 quarters with the lead swinging back and forth between the two teams. In the 4th quarter the Lakers were able to use their overall height to pull away with the victory. Clair Cox led the way with 13 points, 3 steals and 4 assists. Jillian Vickery added 5 points and 4 steals, Elliot Cowan added 4 points, 13 boards, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Solara Howe had 4 points and 6 boards, Marissa Beselaere 4 points and Melissa Pardy with 2 points and 3 blocks.
Team members include Isabella Bugros, Claire Cox, Sara Turner, Marissa Beselaere, Sydney Sheppy, Jillian Vickery, Meghan Colby, Briah Baylis, Elliot Cowan, Melissa Pardy and Solara Howe. The team is coached by Charles Peet with assistance from Kristine Goodison and Skylar Baylis. Cheerleaders were once again led by Geoff Beselaere and Crystal Sheppy with Tim Cox returning from the injured list.
