Lakers Go Streaking, Win 3-2 In OT
The Wallaceburg Lakers have put together their first winning streak of the season.
One night after a 1-0 shutout over Petrolia for their first home win of the season, Wallaceburg took a 3-2 overtime decision over those same Flyers on the road Thursday night.
The Lakers got out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Justin Lindsay and Trevor Waller. Petrolia responded with a powerplay goal from Mark McMally in the second and a third period game-tying-goal courtesy of Jeremy VanDeven.
Justin Lindsay then played hero with his second of the game and fifth of the year at 3:06 of overtime, assisted by Wallaceburg’s 16-year-old Nolan Farr.
Farr finished with two assists, Waller with a goal and an assist and Lindsay was in on all three Lakers goals, with two goals and a helper.
Netminder George Hill was yet again a brick wall, turning away 56 of 58 shots.
With the back-to-back wins, Wallaceburg improves to a record of 3-30-1 and are currently five behind Petrolia for the eighth and final playoff spot with six games remaining.
The Lakers are off until Wednesday, January 11th when they’re home to Blenheim.
