The Wallaceburg Lakers secured their first home win of the season with a 1-0 shutout of the Petrolia Flyers on Wednesday night.

Trevor Waller scored the lone goal, his team leading 18th of the year with just over 7 minutes remaining in the third period. The tally ties Waller for 16th among PJHL scoring leaders.

George Hill was rewarded for his fine play with his first shutout of the year, turning away 36 shots.

The Lakers coaching staff continues to undergo alteration. Wednesday’s game saw general manager Ritch Kanally joined behind the bench by former assistant coach Shawn Simpson and Sebastian Kanally, a former Jr C standout.

The Lakers and Flyers are right back at it Thursday night in Petrolia.
