The Blenheim Blades pulled even in their best-of-seven PJHL series against the Dresden Kings Monday night in Dresden, as the Blades defeated the Kings 5-2.

Blenheim defender Owen Bateman paced the scoring notching a hat trick in the win, including opening the scoring, and putting home a dagger late in the game to cap the scoring.

Kain Hopkins and Matt Clark also scored for the Blades, while Kier Cumming, Zach Horvath, Dustin Maines, and Brayden Hopkins all had a pair of helpers.

Dillon Liberty and Brendan Ritchie both scored for the Kings, and Liberty also missed a first period penalty shot.

Blenheim was able to shut down the Kings’ powerplay on multiple occassions, including a pair of extended five-on-three powerplay attempts.

Game three of the series, which is now tied 1-1, goes Thursday night in Blenheim, before returning to Dresden Friday.
