Kaitlyn Isaac Commits To Cornell
Isaac, who attends Wallaceburg District Secondary School, currently plays for the PWHL’s Bluewater Hawks where she has 3 goals and 7 assists in 34 games as one of the teams and leagues youngest players.
“I’m very excited about my decision to (commit to) Cornell,” Kaitlyn Isaac told CKSN. “They have one of the best women’s programs in the country and a great coach (Doug Derraugh). I chose Cornell not only for the hockey but because they are an Ivy League school, so I know I will get a great education there.”
Isaac has participated in recent seasons with Team Ontario for the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, and skated in the Ontario Summer Games last summer, as well as competing with the West Coast Selects program.
In the past, Isaac has also played ‘AA’ womens hockey in Sarnia, and grew up playing boys ‘AAA’ for Little Caesars.
Isaac is also an accomplished soccer player, playing travel soccer in Chatham and Windsor.
The grade 10 student will join Cornell in 2019-2020.
The Cornell Big Red women’s hockey team has appeared four times in the NCAA tournament, winning four ECAC championships. The school has produced five Canadian Olympic gold medallists including Rebecca Johnston, Laura Fortino, and Brianne Jenner.
