The trend of Chatham-Kent athletes moving to London’s Southwest Academy to play prep basketball continues to grow, as Chatham’s Niveen Tekhli is the next to commit to the school.

Tekhli, a grade nine student at Chatham-Kent Secondary School, will join former CKSS student Maggie Denys, and Chatham’s Emily Kirkpatrick at Southwest Academy for 2017-2018.

“Niveen is a fantastic kid. Character, coachability and genuine “team first” athlete,” said Southwest Academy coach Rob Angione. “She is exactly the type of athlete that our Southwest Academy culture is built around. Niveen is a versitile and dynamic athlete. She has a very high ceiling in the game and her length and athleticism will be a matchup program on both sides of the ball. We have been fortunate to build a very strong group of grade 9 and 10’s (for 2017-2018) and with the incredible mentorship of our returning core, and under the leadership of our strength and conditioning coach, it will be exciting to watch these athletes grow together.”

Tekhli also plays club basketball for the London Ramblers, along with Kirkpatrick and Denys. The Ramblers have also seen top area players including Burke Bechard, Ashley Jackson, and Bridget Carleton compete with the organization.

Southwest Academy runs their academic programs out of Regina Mundi Catholic High School in London, and competes in the OSBA scholastic prep school league.
