Blenheim Blades goaltender Eric Stewardson made saves, and chipped in offensively as he scored a rare empty net goal to cap off Blenheim’s 4-2 victory over the Lakeshore Canadiens in game one of their PJHL semi-final series.

With the net empty and the score at 3-2 with a minute left in the third period, Stewardson sent the puck end to end to score. He also made 33 saves in the victory.

Lakeshore opened the scoring in the game with Connor Rosaasen putting the Canadiens ahead after one period. In the second however, the tides turned with goals from Matt Clark and Drew Marlatt to tie things at 2-2 heading to the third.

Dustin Maines scored the winner in the third, before Stewardson got the insurance goal.

Game two of the best of seven series is Sunday evening in Blenheim. Puck drop is 7pm.
