Only a few short years ago, Chatham’s Ryan Jones graced the pages and screens of Chatham-Kent news outlets on a regular basis.

Though his name is a little less frequently said and read these days, that doesn’t mean the 32-year-old ex-NHLer has stopped playing. In fact, Jones still has plenty of bite left in his game, playing for the DEL’s Kolner Haie (Cologne Sharks).

Skating in his third season in Germany’s top professional hockey league, Jones has 19 goals and 29 assists in just shy of 50 games this year.

He also helped his Kolner Haie team secure home ice advantage in the upcoming DEL playoffs, as they’ll host Wolfsburg in the league quarter-final.

Jones played 334 NHL games with the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers, scoring 54 goals and 100 career points.

Ryan Jones and his Kolner Haie teammates will begin their playoff run March 7.
