Lakers Hand Out Hardware, Hill And Waller Share MVP

Lakers captain Trevor Waller, pictured with President Skip Harvey and GM Ritch Kanally, receives a plaque as an over-ager prior to his final home game as a Laker. Waller has been awarded the PJHL Stobbs Division Most Desire Award.

Despite another tough year, the Wallaceburg Lakers had a lot to celebrate this past Saturday night, with their annual awards banquet at the Wallaceburg Legion, Branch 18.

Lakers captain Trevor Waller capped off his junior hockey season with some additional hardware, including the team’s high scorer award. Waller led the Lakers in all offensive categories, including 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points in his graduating campaign.

Waller shared the Lakers MVP award with netminder George Hill, who was spectacular in his part of two seasons for Wallaceburg. The Brooklyn, Michigan native was a stalwart between the pipes, despite his numbers behind an anemic offence and learning defensive core. Hill’s play was continually applauded league wide.

Trevor Waller was also selected as the PJHL’s most dedicated player, league wide.

Lakers 16-year-old Nolan Farr of Sombra finished third in team scoring and was rewarded with the Rookie of the Year award.

Additional Award Winners included:

Sportmanship Award – Josh Oberg
Most Improved – Dale McMaster
Directors award – Cody Nicoliasen
Best Defenceman – Matt Brevetti
Heart and Soul – Joel Taylor
Most Dedicated – Noah Tetrault
Best Defensive forward – Garrett Wojcicki
