Maroons To Face Nationals
Chatham swept the St. Thomas Stars in round one of the GOJHL Western Conference playoffs, while London eliminated St. Marys in five games.
Neither team comes in as a decided favourite at Chatham and London split their regular season series 3-3, and the two teams finished with almost identical records in the regular season, with Chatham finishing second overall with 75 points, and London finishing third with 73 points.
In net, Chatham netminder Brendan Johnston put in a sparkling first round performance, winning all four games, and accumulating a 1.25 GAA and .966 save percentage. His counterpart, Cameron Zanussi of London had a 3.42 GAA and .891 save percentage.
Up front, Ethan Nother and Max Vinogradov were a dangerous duo for the London Nationals combining for 11 goals and 23 points in 5 games. Chatham played much lower scoring hockey, with Kevin Gursoy leading the way in the opening round with 5 goals and 7 points.
The London Nationals also feature local products Kyle Dawson and Trenton McGrail.
