Former Maroon Blondeel Up For U of W Captain’s Award
The University of Windsor’s Department of Athletics and Recreational Services recently announced their major award nominees for the 2016-17 Windsor Lancers Evening of Excellence.
Chatham’s Blake Blondeel made the list as a nominee for the U of W Captain’s Trophy. The Captain’s Trophy is presented to the male and female captains who demonstrate outstanding leadership both on and off the field while also making a significant contribution to the overall success of the team.
The former Chatham Maroon is nominated for his role as captain of the Lancers hockey team, alongside track and field athlete Eli Pawliw and football stand-out Randy Beardy.
The award winners will be announced this Wednesday, April 5th at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts as part of the Windsor Lancers 2016-17 Evening of Excellence.
I hope that Blake wins this award. Much deserved. He is a total ‘Class Act’ of a student athlete. He is humble, a lead by example captain……..that just goes out there and gives 110 percent, ALL THE TIME !!!
He is a player who is most respectful of his coaches, teammates and the support staff on that Lancer hockey team. I had the pleasure of seeing him practice and play the past few of seasons. It was a pleasure to take care of his skate maintenance. He was always very appreciative and respectful of the equipment staff and myself.
He is a very fine gentleman, in addition to his skill as a hockey player.
GOOD LUCK, Blake !!!
