Ladd Named To Alliance’s OHL Gold Cup Roster
Kent Bridge’s Grayson Ladd, who was drafted in the first round, 13th overall by the Kitchener Rangers in last weekend’s OHL Priority Selection Draft, has been named the the Alliance’s OHL Gold Cup roster.
The OHL Gold Cup is the first step in the selection process for Team Canada’s U17 rosters. Participants from the OHL Gold Cup, based on their performance, will earn invitations to the National Under-17 Selection Camp in July.
“Every year, the players selected to participate in the OHL Gold Cup put on such a display of skill and the ability to adapt to a new team, it is so fun to see, OHL Gold Cup Co-Chair Tony Martindale said in an OHL news release.
Ladd was the first defenseman chosen in the OHL Draft last weekend, and will represent the Alliance (Team Grey) at the OHL Gold Cup. The 6’2” defenseman was the captain of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team last season, and also appeared in several games for the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons.
Ladd was the only Chatham-Kent Cyclones player selected. The London Jr. Knights topped the Alliance team, with six players being named to the roster.
