Liberty Named OHA Player Of The Year

Congratulations to Dresden Jr Kings graduating captain, Dillon Liberty, who has been named the OHA Junior C Player Of The Year, province wide.

This week the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is announcing our 2016-17 Awards recipients and today we are pleased to announce the 2016-17 OHA Players of the Year. The OHA Junior C Player of the Year is Dillon Liberty, Dresden Kings from the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL).

OHA JUNIOR C PLAYER OF THE YEAR – Dillon Liberty, Dresden Kings (PJHL)
Dillon Liberty (Thamesville, Ontario) wrapped up his final season in junior hockey with the Dresden Kings in style. The 21 year old Team Captain of the Kings was the leading scorer in the PJHL Stobbs Division with 77 points in 38 games; and his 45 goals was the 2nd highest total in the entire PJHL, only Dorchester’s Derek Todosichuk and Stayner’s Ben Hughes had more, with 46 apiece.

Liberty’s season got off to a flying start with 7 goals and 7 assists in the Kings’ first 5 games and he was named the Stobbs Division Player of the Month of September. By the end of the season Liberty had amassed 45 goals and 32 assists and was named the Stobbs Division’s Most Valuable Player. His 77 points placed him 6th overall in PJHL scoring for the 2016-17 season.

Liberty was Runner up for the 2016 Chatham-Kent Male Athlete of the Year, presented by CKSN Sports Network. He is currently working full time at Fastenal Canada and is actively involved in the community as a volunteer at local hockey camps, and assisted in raising money for Breast Cancer awareness.
