LKSSAA Champs Crowned

The LKSSAA Senior Badminton champions were crowned Tuesday.

Grade 10 student Rachel Benn of ESPC, playing up against Senior competition, won the Senior girls singles division. Benn defeated fellow ESPC player Andrea Crow in the final. In boys singles, UCC’s Dhairya Shah dominated all day, including a convincing finals win over CKSS’ Jordan DeHaw.

The CKSS’ boys doubles team of Trevor Everitt and Eric Carter won their division. They beat Dylan Schives and Joe Zarebski in the final.

Jakob Wanger and Chelsea Hartford of UCC defeated CKSS’ Rhea VanHelden and Matt Stokes in the mixed double final.

In girls doubles, JMSS duo Taylor Kewley and Darby Barnard topped UCC’s Emma Demers and Grace Hiltz.

UCC took the overall team title. The top six advance to SWOSSAA next week. OFSAA is hosted by LKSSAA this year in Chatham-Kent.
