First Ever Chatham “Diamonds Day” This Weekend

The Chatham Minor Baseball Association, supported by Ron Field & Sons Electric will celebrate the game of Baseball in Chatham on May 20, with the organizations first ever “Diamonds Day.”

Throughout the day, all nine Chatham Diamonds travel teams will play games at RotaryPark and Turner Park on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham.

The festivities will also include a fastest pitch contest, activities for children, and demonstrations from the Chatham-Kent Police and Fire Services.

All Chatham Minor Baseball athletes will also be entered into draws for prizes.

The day kicks off at Fergie Jenkins Field at Rotary Park at 10am with the Chatham Diamonds Minor Bantam team facing Cambridge. They’ll be followed by the Major Bantam Diamonds at 12:30pm versus Dresden, the Midgets will host North London at 3:00pm, and the day will be wrapped up at 5:30pm when the Chatham Diamonds Junior team plays Essex.

At Turner Park, games begin at 9:00am with the Diamonds Rookie team facing Sarnia, followed by the minor Mosquito Diamonds playing Sarnia at 10:30am. At 1:00pm the Major Mosquito team hosts Riverside, before the Minor Peewee Chatham squad faces Belle River at 3:30pm. Finally, the Major Peewee’s take on Tecumseh to wrap the days events at Turner field at 6:00pm.
