Lakers Announce Staff, Continue Rebuild Off Ice

The Wallaceburg Lakers announced their complete coaching and front office staff for the 2017-2018 PJHL Stobbs Division season.

As announced in March, the Lakers have hired Rick Vancoille as the teams new head coach. Bringing 13-years of hockey coaching experience to the bench, Vancoille most recently coached the Wallaceburg Midget Rep team to an OMHA title.

Joining Vancoille on the bench are Ed Burm and Luke Blackbird.

Burm coached Atom Rep in Wallaceburg last year, and coached Junior C previously in Tilbury.

Blackbird, a former Laker from Walpole Island, brings Junior hockey experience, including with the OHL’s Sarnia Sting, to the team.

Justin Allaer also joins the team as goalie coach.

Off the bench, Ritch Kanally returns to the team as General Manager, the same role he served last season.

Joining Kanally in the front office is Chatham native Darryl Lucio. Lucio is one of the owners of Chatham Pro Shop, and formerly served as a trainer with the Chatham Maroons.
