The Chatham Maroons continued to add local products, committing to 16-year-old underage defenseman Dylan Schives for next season.

The Tilbury product played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget “AAA” team last season.

Ron Horvat, Chatham Maroons head coach says the team is excited to have Schives as part of the organization, “He’s a right handed defender, looking forward to working with this young 16-year-old, we’ve committed to him for next season as one of our underagers.”

Dylan Schives, who was an assistant captain for the Cyclones last season had 5 goals and 19 points in 33 regular season games, before adding 6 points in 11 playoff games.

Schives was one of four Cyclones to play in the Alliance Minor Midget ‘AAA’ All-Star game last season.

He adds to the Maroons early offseason commitments which also included former Cyclones Grant Spence of Chatham, and Ridgetown’s Eric Carter. The Maroons also signed Dane Johnstone who split last season between the GOJHL’s St. Thomas Stars and OHL’s Flint Firebirds. He will be attending St. Clair College in Chatham.
