Cougars Stay Undefeated, Sit In First

The Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars are now 4-0 to start their Ontario Football Conference season, after pummeling the Halton Hills Crimson Tide 53-7.

Their latest win moved the JV Cougars atop the OFC South standings.

Darion Bacik-Hadden had a break out performance, rushing the ball for 106-yards, including 40- and 21-yard touchdown runs. He also threw for two touchdowns, connecting with Ethan Jordan on a 10-yard TD, and Jonathan Cartier on a 44-yard touchdown play.

Cartier also ran for a pair of touchdowns, totalling 135-yards on the day, and threw an 11-yard touchdown to Ethan Joseph.

Cam Creechan rounded out of the scoring kicking a 15-yard touchdown.

On defense, Lucas Doyle had 7 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and 2 sacks. Dave Janssens also contributed with 6 tackles, while Connor Wright and Evan Clark also had strong games on the other side of the ball.

Next week, the Chatham-Kent Cougars will face the 4-0 Brantford Bisons in a battle of the only undefeated teams remaining in the OFC South. The game will take place July 2, at 5pm in Brantford.
