It has been a long time since the Chatham-Kent Cougars won an OFC game at the Junior Varsity level, years in fact.

That changed Saturday as the Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars defeated the Oakville Rebels 42-7 to open their season.

Nakoma Scott and Jon Cartier each rushed for two touchdowns. Scott scored on 6- and 2-yard runs, totalling 31-yards on the day, while Cartier ran in 5- and 1-yard scoring plays, totalling 70-yards.

Darion Bacik-Hadden had the other Cougars rushing TD, running in a 4-yard play, and collecting 67 rushing yards on the day.

Patrick Wilcox returned a punt 42-yards for a touchdown to round out Chatham-Kent’s scoring.

On defense, the Cougars had a balanced effort, paced by Connor Wright’s 3 tackles, 1 sack, and a forced fumble and recovery.

In total the Cougars forced a pair of fumbles, and intercepted three passes in the win.

Sunday, the Bantam Chatham-Kent Cougars defeated the Brantford Bisons by a score of 12-8 to improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Peewee Chatham-Kent Cougars were routed by the Brantford Bisons 53-6 to fall to 1-1 this year.
