Lacrosse Coach Suspended After Throwing Punch At Wallaceburg Player, See Video
A Six Nations Rebels coach has been suspended indefinitely by the Ontario Lacrosse Association following an incident last weekend involving the coach, and a Wallaceburg Red Devils player.
The Six Nations coach, seen in the video below, appears to throw a punch at Wallaceburg Red Devils player Cory Lucier. Lucier appears to be shaking hands with the coach moments before the punch is thrown.
The indefinite suspension is in place as the OLA continues an investigation and conducts a formal review of the incident.
“Lacrosse is an aggressive sport with lots of contact. Most games get heated at some point. Especially close intense games. Historically Six Nations teams are very experienced and professional. They have respect for the game and the players,” Wallaceburg Lacrosse vice president Chris Dawson told CKSN when asked about the incident. “That being said a coach has to be able to control themselves in all situations. Aside from the incident the coaching staff and players in this game were very vocal and undisciplined. This is usually a result of the culture set by the staff.”
“I hope the OLA takes appropriate actions to make sure actions like this are taken seriously and dealt with appropriately,” continued Dawson. “It sets the tone for staff and players. In this case the coach crossed the line and did not have control of his own actions.”
Six Nations defeated Wallaceburg 13-12 during the May 28 contest, winning the game on a last minute penalty shot goal.
Funny how this Dawson fella left out a huge portion of this incident….like their(Wallaceburg) fans being drunk in the stands, throwing garbage at the players and let’s not forget all the racist comments directed at the Six Nations team. I don’t condone what the coach did but the while story should be told. Shame on all of you both teams disrespecting the Creators game…..SMH
Funny how you make up lies. The only garbage throwing came from your brain in this stupid comment.
What transpired is the kid shouldered him from behind…..after shaking his hand. Funny they dont show the wallaceburg fans spitting on Six Nations players from behind the bench….or the racist names they were called…or how they tried to follow the Six Nations players to the dressing room, or how the SN bus driver was almost fighting to protect the bus that Wallaceburg fans were trying to vandalize…none of that came up i bet.
Wallaceburg is a disgrace to the game so is Whitby, Orangeville, Halton Hills, Elora, Hamilton, and you know what any other team that can’t accept that it isn’t just a game it’s Shogwayadihsoh’s game and that’s who you need to be playing for if you wanna fight and argue and get mad and upset you need to leave the floor.
We have this game it is a medicine and is to make you happy win or lose if you cannot be happy while playing this game then go play some other sport where you can be like that. ALOT OF PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER THESE DAYS.
Dane:toh.
I was at the game an all that was said to that six nations coach by that fan was quit your whineing I have played against six nations years ago down in six nations when fans down there through beer bottles at us when we were running down the floor. Then the fans went outside pulled the wires out of our bus an would not let us on the bus the Opps had to be called in. An guess what Six Nations came to Wallaceburg the next Friday gave us a plaque most sportsmen like team in the league So i think Six Nations should clean up there act an play the game the way the game is ment to be played
Lies!!! Six Nations does NOT sell beer at our arenas during games. When there is alcohol being consumed and causing problems, it is the visiting teams doing it. Unfortunately this holds true even for minor lacrosse – always see visitors sitting in the parking lot, drinking.
My sons played lacrosse for many years and during their final tournament in Whitby a few years back, we were playing Orangeville, once the game ended the coach sent in an injured player with a cast to fight my son. After the referees intervened, the coach was so angry he grabbed my sons helmet and stick and launched them across the arena floor breaking the helmet. I launched a complaint and emailed everyone from the governing association, the tournament organizers, to the president of Orangeville lacrosse several times. Not only was I out $200 for another helmet that i had nothing to do with ruining, they did absolutely nothing to the coach or restitution for the a new helmet. It was all on video and not one person with a shred of common sense dealt with this. My boys at the time were 15. Sickening!!!!
