Red Devils Clip The Clippers, Brown Grabs 13 Points

Tyler Brown led the way and then some, with 13 points for the Wallaceburg Red Devils in a 14-6 win over the Windsor Clippers on Tuesday night. The “W” gives Wallaceburg the lone first place seat in the Far West Division.

Brown, the game’s first star and a first year Red Devil acquired just prior to the season, finished with 6 goals and 7 assists, finding the scoresheet on all but one Wallaceburg tally.

Evan Mathany had 7 points including one goal while Red Devils’ leading scorer Cory Lucier and newly acquired Sidney Powless each had two goals and two assists. Kyle Dawson added three helpers and Ryan Noel picked up a goal and an assist. Goaltender Noble Jacobs continued his strong play, stopping 39 of 45 shots while stymieing the division’s top offence.

More than 400 lacrosse fans packed Memorial Arena in the ‘Burg to see the division’s top teams and rivals square off. Wallaceburg and Windsor meet one another one final time before the close of the regular season next Tuesday (June 13) in Windsor.

The Red Devils recently added a trio of new faces to the line-up, and have welcomed Colin Montour, Sidney Powless and Bailey Skye to the Wallaceburg lacrosse family.

Colin has spent time with the Six Nations Arrows this year and is an Ace on D. Powless had 42 points in 11 GP with the Rebels this year and made an impact in his first appearance against Windsor. Bailey recently earned NJCAA 2nd team all-American honours with GCCLax this past spring.
