Chatham Golfers Finish Top 30 At Amateur Provincials
Maple City Golf & Country Club’s Brooke MacKinnon and Mackenzie Butzer continued their climb up the amateur women’s rankings with solid finishes at the Investor’s Group Ontario Women’s Amateur Provincial Championships this past weekend.
MacKinnon, who shot a par-72 in the second round, wrapped up play with a 5-over 77 to finish in 18th place among the best women golfers in Ontario.
Butzer, who had a strong 76-average through three rounds, finished with an 11-over 83 to drop to 28th in the overall tournament rankings. If she kept her 76-pace, Butzer would have also finished among the Top 20.
Both ladies, from Chatham, have proven to be competitors to watch moving forward.
MacKinnon was recently crowned Chatham-Kent’s female Jack Parry Award winner and has committed to play NCAA Division I golf for the University of Hartford next season.
Butzer won a pair of National Championship titles earlier this year at the NCAA PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship. The Maple City member was the individual champion, and also helped her Bethune-Cookman University to a team title.
