Chatham’s Pierce Johnson will compete for Team Canada this summer at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Universaide features 21 sports in the summer competition, with the world’s top University athletes competing. This year, it will take place from August 19-30.

Johnson, a six-foot-four left-side hitter, was named to Team Canada’s men’s volleyball team for the competition.

He recently completed a very successful rookie U Sports season with the University of Windsor Lancers men’s volleyball team.

A Chatham-Kent Secondary School graduate, Johnson had 150 points, 2.28 kills per set, and 2.78 points per set en route to being named an OUA All-Rookie team member.
