MacKinnon, Butzer Excelling At Ontario Amateur Provincials
Two of Chatham-Kent’s top young golf phenoms are charging towards the top of the leaderboard at the Ontario Amateur Provincial Championships in Cambridge.
Chatham’s Brooke MacKinnon and Mackenzie Butzer, both of Maple City Country Club, have made the cut into Thursday’s third round at the Galt Country Club.
Recently crowned Jack Parry Award winner and CKSS graduate, Brooke MacKinnon climbed from 38th to a tie for 14th place with an impressive second-round score of 72. MacKinnon shot for par, the second best total on the day, trailing only current leader Madeline Marck-Sherk, who shot a second-round 71 to improve to 142, 4 shots ahead of the second place Courtney Tolton.
Butzer improved upon her 6-over 78 in the opening round with a 4-over 76 on Wednesday. Butzer moves from 19th place into the 17th position.
The top 54 advanced into Thursday’s third round.
