The Wallaceburg Lakers announced more signings Sunday, including that of 16-year-old Bailey Smith.

Smith, a long time member of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones ‘AAA’ system, had a goal and 10 points for the Cyclones in 2016-2017 in 33 games.

The six-foot blueliner, who attends Chatham-Kent Secondary School, was joined by the signing of goaltenders Josh Loranger and Kyle Koopmans, and forward Josh Scott.

Loranger brings Junior experience to the Lakers net, having split 15 games last season in net for the Junior C Simcoe Storm and Norwich Merchants.

The Wallaceburg Lakers made the signings after a home and home exhibition series with the North Middlesex Stars, splitting the games, winning in overtime 4-3 Friday in Walpole, and losing a close 6-5 loss Saturday in Strathroy.

Wallaceburg continues the preseason with another home and home against the Blenheim Blades. The Lakers will be travelling to Blenheim on September 1 for a 7pm start, and then the Blades will finish the series off by travelling to Walpole to play the Lakers on September 2, with puck drop at 7:30pm.
