Sasseville Golden Again, Breaks Canada Summer Games Record

Chatham’s Genevieve Sasseville has won more gold in the last month, than most athletes hope to collect in a lifetime.

After excelling at the Canadian Junior National Championships, Sasseville has continued her success at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba this week.

The highlight early on for Sasseville, was a gold in the 50m butterfly, in which she broke the Canada Summer Games record, winning with a time of 27.51. The previous record was set in 2013 by Quebec’s Frederique Cigna, who set the mark with a time of 27.59.

Sasseville also added another pair of gold medals as a part of Team Ontario relay teams in 4x50m freestyle relay (1:47.47), as well as in the 4x100m freestyle relay, with a time of 3:53.84.

Sasseville continues competition until Friday.
