Seys Wins Second Straight Tournament
The Jamieson Tour stopped at Essex Golf and Country Club for the 9th event of the season, with Port Lambton’s Brendan Seys winning his second straight tour stop.
A UCC graduate, and Maple City member, Seys won the Collegiate Men’s Division shooting an identical 67, recording 8 birdies, from his tour win the week before. Seys also plays NCAA golf for Wayne State.
He defeated Thomas Demarco (Essex/Northern Illinois University) who shot a 69.
In the Junior Boys’ Division, Michael Nunes did just that. The Essex member toured the course in two-under par (69), shooting nines of 32 and 37. On the Front Nine, Nunes made an eagle and two birdies to go along with one bogey, and tallied 8 pars to a single bogey on the back nine. The win was Nunes’ first of the season. In second place, just one shot behind was Ethan Stewart, who fired a one-under-par 70.
Shannon Coffey took the Junior Girls’ Division with a 76, which included a birdie on her last hole of the day (par 4 11th). Roseland’s Coffey also made birdie on the par 5 3rd hole, and used a handful of pars to take home the victory (her first of the season). In second place was Hannah Meloche with a 79.
In the Collegiate Womens’ Division, Megan Schauer took home the win (her 7th of the season) with a 76. Schauer used two birdies en route to nine hole scores of 36 and 40, to tally her 76 total. Closely behind her was Lauren Reid, who shot 79.
After a busy couple weeks, the Jamieson Tour will take a short break before returning to Erie Shores Golf Club on August 9.
