Tilbury’s Blake Blondeel will return to the University of Windsor for his fifth and final season of USports hockey, and will again serve as team captain.

Blenheim’s Kyle Hope will be one of three assistant captains announced by Windsor head coach Kevin Hamlin this offseason.

“We are pleased to name these four as our team captains for next season,” said Hamlin in a Windsor Lancers news release. “They are experienced and well respected student-athletes and they will provide valuable leadership for our big group of incoming freshmen this year.”

Blondeel, a former Chatham Maroons and Dresden Kings forward, had 12 points in 27 games last season with the Lancers. Hope, who played five seasons in the OHL, had 7 points in 25 games.

As well, former Chatham Maroons forward Kyle Makaric has been named an assistant coach

“We are really excited to add Kyle to our coaching staff for the upcoming season,” said Hamlin. “Kyle is a former Lancer and a bright young coach who we think will be a great addition to our staff.”

The Lancers roster features several ex-Chatham Maroons including Brennan Feasey, Ian Faubert, and Eric Palazzolo.

The Windsor Lancers men’s hockey team opens their training camp today in Windsor.
