The Blenheim Blades have signed their 16-year-old for the 2017-2018 PJHL Junior C season, inking Chatham’s Lucas Fancy.

“He’s a small forward with the heart and desire that will allow him to succeed against bigger players,” said Blades general manager Lonnie Hamilton of Fancy.

“He plays a 200ft game and his efforts in games and practices are second to none.”

Fancy is a product of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones ‘AAA’ program.

Last season he scored 6 goals and 14 points in 27 regular season games before exploding in the playoffs for 13 points in only 11 games.

In two preseason games with the Blades this year, Fancy had a goal and an assist.

Blenheim also signed Joe Betterley, a South Kent product.

The Blenheim Blades still have three more exhibition games in preparation for the PJHL Stobbs Division season, including Thursday against Wheatley. They’ll then play Lakeshore September 10, and close out their preseason September 11 against Wheatley again.
