Maroons Open Season With Pair Of Losses
The Chatham Maroons opened their season at the GOJHL Showcase with a pair of losses, falling to the Kitchener Dutchmen and Caledonia Corvairs.
Saturday, facing Kitchener, Chatham’s offense was firing, but the team struggled to keep the puck out of their own net, falling 8-6.
Grant Spence was the game’s third star scoring two goals. Thomas Michaud and Jake O’Donnell also had multi-point games, each having a goal and an assist. Steven Fowler and Eric Carter had the other Chatham goals.
Sunday facing the powerhouse Caledonia Corvairs, Chatham couldn’t find the net losing 5-0.
Kyle Droge took the bulk of the goaltending duties this weekend allowing 11 goals on 61 shots. Nolan Hakr came in to relieve Droge Saturday in the third period.
Chatham’s other netminder, Cameron Lamour has yet to join the team as he remains with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit.
