The CK Pickleball Club and St. Clair College Chatham HealthPlex hosted an Introduction to Pickleball clinic on Saturday, September 23 with 33 new players most trying the sport for the first time with paddles supplied by the Ontario Pickleball Store.

These new players who after a 1 hour introduction to the fastest growing sport in North America were playing competitive games supervised by 8 Chatham-Kent Pickleball coaches.

“The response to this free clinic went above expectations and the participants were quick learners who showed great enthusiasm and after one hour were able to play competitive games within their skill groups,” said Jay Salisbury, President of the Chatham-Kent Pickleball Club.

“We love seeing new people trying the sport because usually after the first exposure they are looking to play on a regular basis and as a club we would like to offer this type of experience to other interested people, community organizations and businesses to continue to grow the sport in Chatham-Kent.”

Pickleball is a paddle sport for all ages, athletic abilities and skill levels and is a cross between tennis, table tennis and badminton.

Signup is now underway for C-K Pickleball Club Fall activities including lessons, league play and the Stompin’ Grapes Fun Team Tournament on Oct. 28.
