Brodie, Horvat Star In NHL Wins

Dresden’s TJ Brodie had a career night scoring 4-points for the Calgary Flames in a 6-3 home opener win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night.

Brodie scored a pair of goals and assisted on the winning and insurance goals.

Last season in 82 games with the Flames, Brodie collected 6 goals and 36-points. He’s in his seventh full NHL season, all with the Calgary Flames.

Horvat, who hails from Rodney, and has ties to Bothwell, scored twice in the Vancouver Canucks’ opener, lifting them to a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Horvat, who signed a $33 million contract with the Canucks prior to training camp led Vancouver in scoring last season with 20-goals and 52-points in 81 games.
