Colleges Strike, Sports Not Impacted
College students across Ontario might be out of the classroom beginning Monday morning, but they won’t be off the court or field.
Faculty at 24 Ontario colleges went on strike Monday morning, leaving over 500,000 students out of the classroom, but the decision is not impacting OCAA sports, as college athletics will continue as usual.
Many Chatham-Kent athletes participate in OCAA sports across Ontario, including locally at St. Clair College in Windsor, Lambton College in Sarnia, and Fanshawe College in London.
St. Clair College in Chatham is set to host men’s and women’s volleyball at the St. Clair Health Plex October 20, while other sports, including cross country, soccer, and baseball are coming to a close.
Ontario college teachers and faculty chose to go on strike after having several contract offers turned down over recent weeks.
